URGENT FUNDRAISING ALERT: Little Zhanna, who is only 3 years old, is battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and urgently needs our help. Instead of enjoying her childhood, Zhanna is confined to a hospital ward, fighting this terrible disease.
She fell ill in February with a high fever and a swollen foot and was rushed to the hospital in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, where she spent 3 days in intensive care. The tests revealed that she had cancer of the blood, and she needed urgent medical attention to survive.
The family returned to their home in Kyrgyzstan for further treatment and went to an oncohaematology centre in Bishkek. Zhanna has blood type A with a negative Rh factor. The major problem was the difficulty in finding blood and platelets for transfusion, which are crucial in treating leukaemia. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, remission was not achieved. It led to the end of her treatment in her home country. The only way to save Zhanna was through a course of high-dose chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant.
"Could we have given up? What mother would agree to sit and watch her child die? We had to sell a lot of things to go to Turkey for treatment. The clinic agreed to accept payment in stages, which enabled my daughter to receive a course of high-dose chemotherapy. Zhanna needs a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, her sisters and brother were not eligible donors as their blood was checked. Now, the clinic is searching for a suitable donor, but they can only start preparing for the transplant after paying the bill. We are in a desperate situation. We are selling the house we have been saving for 10 years, but even after doing so, we lack money. People, please do not pass by; my daughter is dying. I pray every day that we have time to save her. Without your help, we will not cope!” - Feruza, Zhanna's mother, appeals to everyone.
Before her illness, Zhanna was a very cheerful and active girl. She enjoyed going to kindergarten and playing with her sisters and brother. Zhanna was the youngest in a large family. She always loved to dance and was rather talented at it - everyone admired the radiant Zhanna when she danced. However, when cancer struck, her leg became sick, leaving her with no strength and no joy, and her life became one of pain.
Despite her condition, Zhanna dreams of recovering, returning home, and having a dog or at least a kitty. She often draws pictures of her future and asks her mom every day, "Mummy, when will we go home?" Due to her young age, the seriousness of her condition hasn't fully sunk in for Zhanna. Her childhood is passing by in the hospital, and she can only see summer through the window. When she holds on, she sits on the window sill, looking out at the world and creating stories. Only the world of fantasy helps her to cope with the pain and suffering.
Zhanna is in a critical condition. The situation is dire, but there is still hope. In Turkey, there is significant expertise and options to save the little girl's life. However, the cost of treatment is substantial, and the family cannot afford it alone. They cannot proceed with the transplant without making the necessary payments. Fundraising is urgently needed to help Zhanna overcome this life-threatening illness and return home.
Family's heartfelt plea.
