Elaman is a remarkable boy with a big heart and strong character. He has been battling illness for five years, starting at the age of two, and has spent most of his life in the hospital. He is incredibly kind and thoughtful; he always shares his toys, supports other children in the ward, and tries to comfort those around him. Despite his young age, he possesses a seriousness and wisdom that often surprises his family with the depth of his insights. Elaman dreams of travelling, exploring different countries, and sharing his joy with his loved ones.
Elaman's greatest desire is to simply be a healthy child, free from fear and pain, so he can truly enjoy life. However, this dream cannot be realised without your help. Without your support, it will remain unfulfilled. Please help Elaman survive!
In 2020, when he was just 2.5 years old, the little boy fell seriously ill. He stopped eating, became very pale, and suffered from vomiting and a high fever. Soon after, bruises began to appear on his body, and his blood test results showed alarming deficiencies. His family was quickly referred to the National Centre for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology in Bishkek. A bone marrow puncture led to a devastating diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukaemia B-II.
Elaman was transferred to the children's oncology department, where he spent 11 months in the hospital. Fortunately, the chemotherapy was effective, and Elaman began to thrive. He started communicating with other children, playing, drawing, and building with construction sets. He even completed pre-school. His family believed that the disease was behind him, but five years later, it returned.
The doctors diagnosed Elaman with a relapse and informed him that he now needed a bone marrow transplant. He was hospitalised again, which was very difficult for him to accept, as he knew he had to undergo treatment once more. Unfortunately, bone marrow transplants are not performed in his home country, so he is receiving treatment at the Acıbadem clinic in Istanbul. Elaman has already completed two courses of chemotherapy and requires one more. If he enters remission, preparations for the transplant will begin.
Time is running out. Cancer won't wait for the family to afford the transplant. If we miss this opportunity, the consequences could be severe!
Every medical procedure presents a challenge for Elaman, but he has learned to endure them with remarkable patience. At times, he tries to be brave and steadfast, even when he is in significant pain. There are moments when he cannot hold back his tears due to exhaustion and discomfort, but he never loses hope. Elaman treats doctors with great respect and trust, understanding that they are the ones helping him fight his illness. He is incredibly strong and patient, which may be why he has learned to endure injections and medical procedures that seem unbearable to other children.
For his family, Elaman is an example of extraordinary fortitude, courage, and strength— a source of inspiration and boundless love. He is a dreamy child; despite all the difficulties he faces, he never stops making plans for the future. Above all, he aspires to become a doctor because, as he says, "I know how hard it is for children in the hospital, and I want to help them get better." His dream is for children to suffer no more from pain and to be able to live happily. He often fantasises about running in the yard again, riding his bike, and going to school with his friends.
In this close-knit family, there are three children: the eldest is Elaman, the middle child is Begimai, who is 5 years old, and the youngest is Aktilek, who is 4 years old. Begimai and Aktilek, Elaman's siblings, attend kindergarten. They are aware of their brother's illness, miss him dearly, and pray that he will recover soon and return home. When their parents were searching for a donor for Elaman, Begimai and Aktilek visited the hospital to donate blood, hoping it would help their seriously ill brother heal faster. Unfortunately, they were not suitable as donors.
"The illness has dramatically changed our lives. We spend almost all our time at the hospital and are facing significant financial difficulties, along with intense emotional distress. The situation is overwhelming for our family, and we cannot manage on our own, which is why we are reaching out for help. The doctors have informed us that the treatment will be long-term. Unfortunately, Elaman's siblings are not suitable donors. We have tried to raise money ourselves by reaching out to people and visiting markets to ask for assistance. We immediately sent the funds we collected to the clinic to ensure they would accept us. We are trying to stay hopeful for Elaman's sake and encourage each other. We affectionately call him Eku or Ekule and assure him that we will do everything we can to help him recover.
Please help Elaman get a chance at life and a healthy future.” Sincerely, Elaman's mother.
