Unfortunately, not everything went as planned, but there is still hope. The cord blood that the doctors and Elina had been waiting for to help defeat her cancer turned out to be unsuitable for the transplant. Her parents were in despair and felt lost about what to do next.
Nurzhigit, Elina's father, had been a regular blood donor even before his daughter’s illness. When Elina fell sick, he took a job near the hospital so he could donate blood to her when her levels dropped. Doctors tested his bone marrow and found a 70% match.
On May 15, Elina underwent a bone marrow transplant. She faces a challenging recovery ahead, with the risk of graft-versus-host reaction (GVHR). Her treatment must continue without interruption, as this is a particularly risky time.
Elina is currently in a sterile room with her dad. Her mood is unstable, which can be attributed to her physical health and the separation from her mum, the longest she has ever experienced. Her mum calls and talks to her as often as possible, but whenever Elina hears her familiar voice, she starts to cry because she misses her very much.
Elina's dad, Nurzhigit, underwent a bone marrow transplant, and the procedure went smoothly without complications. In two weeks, it will become clear how well the donor bone marrow, which is not 100% compatible, will take root in his body. The results will be analysed to determine if the transplant was successful. In the meantime, the doctors are doing everything they can to ensure a positive outcome. Elina's parents are hopeful and express their gratitude for all the support they have received.
However, the clinic continues to issue numerous invoices, and Elina mustn't go without treatment. We kindly ask everyone to support Elinochka, as it is crucial for her well-being!
