We are thrilled to share that another tiny human being has been saved thanks to your generous support for her fundraising campaign for complex treatment—a bone marrow transplant at a clinic abroad!ds,
This one-year-old baby, who had never suffered from a serious illness before, was recently diagnosed with blood cancer. Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia was the underlying cause of her cough, which was accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and intestinal disorders.
The girl was urgently referred to the oncology and haematology department in Bishkek. Her parents, upon learning of their daughter's diagnosis, were devastated and couldn't sleep for several days. The situation was dire; the little girl faced severe complications during chemotherapy, including organ failure and sepsis. Her cancer treatment had reached a critical impasse.
Thank you for your continued support during this challenging journey. The doctors initially believed that Elina's mother's pregnancy would provide a solution, relying on the potential of umbilical cord blood stem cells. However, those cells were deemed unsuitable. As a result, it was decided to use her father as a donor instead. This decision proved to be a great success; after the bone marrow transplant on May 15, 2025, at the Acibadem Clinic in Turkey, Elina began to show signs of recovery! Tests confirmed that the bone marrow from the related donor was taking root well in Elina. Although she is currently dealing with stomatitis, she is already eating well, despite her appetite not returning immediately. Turkish doctors have explained that the reduced platelet count is considered a normal fluctuation for this phase of her recovery.
Father and daughter are eagerly awaiting their transfer from the sterile box to a separate ward. However, even in the ward, they face a challenging postoperative period, as graft-versus-host disease is a significant risk after TCM (transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells).
We made it in time! Now it’s up to the child’s body, and of course, the experienced and attentive doctors! We did everything we could, alongside you! Your support for Elina's fundraiser made this life-saving surgery and subsequent treatment possible. Thank you so much for your help! May it bring Elina health and a long, happy life!
