“Dear Father Frost,
My name is Aliya. I am currently ill and hope to recover soon so I can fly back home. I wish to be completely healthy in the New Year and hope no one else gets sick.
Unfortunately, Aaliyah's most cherished wish may not come true. Before the holidays, she went out of remission, and her bone marrow transplantation has been postponed indefinitely. Her family now needs to raise a significant amount of money to try to save their beloved daughter and little sister. Aliya's last chance is an expensive CAR-T therapy, which must be completed before any subsequent bone marrow transplantation.
Her mother is in tears, and her father is desperate. They are pleading for your help to give Aliya hope!”
Aliya grows up in a friendly and modest family. Before her illness, her mother worked as a history teacher, and her father was a cattle breeder. Aliya has two brothers: the eldest, Iskender, is 17 years old and in 11th grade, while her middle brother, Bektur, is 14 and in 9th grade. Due to their little sister's illness, they have had to mature quickly.
Aliya feels very homesick and misses her classmates. However, she is currently in such a state that she doesn't want to communicate or stay in touch with anyone. Her middle brother, Bektur, has just arrived. He was supposed to be a bone marrow donor, and everything was ready for the transplant, but…
Aliyah and her mom are currently in a hotel. Bektur is doing his best to distract Aliyah from her troubling thoughts. They spend a lot of time talking and playing board games together. When Aliyah's neutrophil count is low, she is not allowed to be in public places, so they stay home. However, when her levels are normal, her mom and brother take her for walks, although she must wear a mask.
Aliyah is feeling very tired and wants to go home. More than anything, she hopes to celebrate the next New Year at home.
May your homes always be filled with peace, prosperity, good health and the warmth of your family and friends. May this joyful festival fill your hearts with kindness, compassion and gratitude.
