Maksat and his mother finally left the sterile environment of the bone marrow transplant department. The tests showed encouraging results: 100% engraftment of the donor bone marrow, a significant victory!
“When we left the box, I thought, ‘Here it is, freedom...’ But Maksat had completely changed. He was tired, had stopped smiling, cried often, and said, ‘Mum, let's go home for good, please,’” his mother recalls.
Unfortunately, their joy was short-lived. Maksat's weakened immune system struggled to cope, and he contracted a severe intestinal infection. The medicine needed to save him had to be urgently ordered from Hong Kong, as it was not available at the clinic.
"He is very weak, but we are fighting with all our strength. He wants to get better so much. Every day, I pray to God for the strength to get through this," says the boy's mother.
If his condition stabilises, he and his mother will be allowed to stay at a hotel for a short period. However, this will only be a brief respite. A long and challenging journey still lies ahead, including new tests, procedures, and courses of chemotherapy.
Let’s help Maksat through this journey! Donate now—every contribution brings us closer to the day when he can return home healthy and leave the hospital behind for good.
