The boy's condition worsened sharply, and his platelets dropped critically. Bruises spread across Akhmet's body, and the baby struggled to breathe. Despite debts, the mother persuaded the clinic to accept her son.
Mum's news. "Akhmet's condition worsened just before the New Year. Before that, everything was more or less explainable. And then suddenly, his platelets dropped sharply, and my baby struggled to breathe. There were bruises all over his body. I was frightened. When we first learnt about my son's terrible diagnosis, bruising was one of the first symptoms.
The clinic made concessions and agreed to accept us regardless of our debts. The doctors examined Akhmet and were alarmed. They said there were two options:
either the donor cells had failed and relapsed,
or his kidneys were failing.
Akhmet was hospitalised and connected to oxygen, which helped the kid breathe easier. They started blood transfusions. They took bone marrow for analysis. I spent the New Year holidays in dreadful anticipation.
But luckily, the results were positive. These are still severe side effects after a bone marrow transplant. The doctors said that the dots (bruises on the body) come out as a result of cancer cells dying off. Akhmet is already feeling better. The baby has already been disconnected from oxygen and can breathe by himself.
What should we expect next time, and what will happen if the clinic refuses to accept us... I beg you, help me to save my son. I can't do it without you." - Mum.
